or the first nine months of 2018, Vietnam economy recorded a positive growth rate of
6.98% year on year, an 8-year high. Along with the positive economic growth, the
FVietnam consumer confidence index in quarter II of 2018 was also high, making Vietnam
emerge as the fifth most optimistic country in the world. The economy is forecasted to remain
positive in the coming years despite facing a lot of challenges from the international side such
as trade war; tightened monetary policy; tendency for dumping of local currencies of countries
and geopolitical tensions. On the domestic side, stable macroeconomic conditions, the growth
of the banking sector, the rate of profit to fall of the real estate sector are key factors sup-
porting the market in 2018.

In that context, Vietnam Report has researched and published the bilingual Vietnam
Earnings Insight Report 2018 on the occasion of announcing Top 500 Most Profitable
Companies in 2018 - PROFIT500. Besides assessments on the situation and business perform-
ance of Vietnamese enterprises in the past time; Vietnam Earnings Insight also provides in-
depth analysis and forecasts on some key industries with high potentials for profit growth in
the coming period. Moreover, Vietnam Report also conducted a survey to gather feedbacks
from enterprises who have achieved remarkable business performance to understand the fac-
tors that affect the profitability of the company as well as their strategies for increasing prof-
its in the future.
