FOREWORD
was a year with special marks, showing the Government's efforts in leadership and admin-
istration when the growth rate continuously reached over 7% (7.02%) - exceeding the tar-
2019get, was one of the top countries with the highest GDP in the world. Notably, despite high
GDP, the macro-economy has remained stable, inflation controlled (less than 4%), the ratio of public debt to GDP
decreased, ensuring the goal of security-social increase. Last year, Vietnam officially implement the CPTPP, signed
a comprehensive and bilateral agreement between Vietnam with 28 EU member countries (EVFTA, EVIPA). In addi-
tion, Vietnam was officially elected to serve as a chair non-permanent members of the United Nations Security
Council for the 2020-2021 term, that not only bringing hope for the future of international trade development
towards liberalization but also promoting Vietnamese enterprises, especially the large enterprises to seize oppor-
tunities, affirm the position of Vietnamese enterprises in the international area.
Under this context and for the occasion of the 13 th Announce Ceremony of Top 500 largest enterprises in
Vietnam 2019 - VNR500 Rankings list, Vietnam Report has conducted some research and published the
Bilingual White Paper Annual Report "large enterprises of Vietnam and challenges to growth in
2020". The content of the Report focuses mainly on analyzing the actual capacity of large Vietnamese enterpris-
es in the context of extensive integration and the spread of the industrial revolution 4.0. In order to have the most
objective and specific view, the report is not only based on the analysis and evaluation of economic experts but
also on feedback from large enterprises in the VNR500 Rankings List. From which, making forecasts about the
growth potential of industries and the challenges that enterprises may face in 2020; While, proposing policy rec-
ommendations to enhance competitiveness, create a healthy business environment, support the Vietnamese enter-
prises’ development. In addition, updated information on the production and business situation of the Top 50
Vietnam The Best is also introduced in the last section of the Report.
Vietnam Report Editorial Board hopes that the White Paper: large enterprises of Vietnam and challenges to
growth in 2020, published in January 2020, will be a useful reference for the Vietnamese business community
and readers in general.
