FOREWORD
xperiencing the COVID-19 pandemic, the world is operating in a completely different
way and Vietnam is also no exception. For the first nine months of 2020, Vietnam’s eco-
Enomic growth rate was only 2.12%, the lowest compared to the same period in the
2011-2020 period, but given the current difficult situation, the maintenance of positive eco-
nomic growth is still considered a good sign. Moreover, Vietnam’s Global Innovation 2020
index continues to rank 42 nd among 131 countries, making Vietnam be only two places behind
the top 40 countries mainly including high-income countries. In a new normal, Vietnamese
enterprises not only need to maintain production and business activities as well as ensure
social safety regulations but also need to develop an operating system that is more suitable to
the market trend to flexibly improve business efficiency, maximize profits in order to survive
and develop sustainably, thereby promoting the economic development.
In such a context and on the occasion of the announcement of the Top 500 most profitable
enterprises in 2020 - PROFIT500 as well as honoring the typical enterprises in the Top 10
prestigious companies in the Food and Beverage, Retail, Packaging Industries, Vietnam Report
researched and published Vietnam Earnings Insight 2020, a Bilingual Report with the
theme “Restructuring - Recovering growth momentum in a new normal”. The report
focuses on understanding and analyzing the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on the finan-
cial risk management system and profitability of the business community in Vietnam, thereby
providing solutions and strategy orientations to help enterprises overcome difficulties and
recover the profit growth momentum in the new normal.
The Editorial Board of Vietnam Report hopes that Vietnam Earnings Insight 2020 pub-
